Beach Time!

Even though it was cloudy the students loved playing in the water.  Most of them don't know how to swim, but they had fun in the sand and being knocked down by the waves.

For this I had to pay money!

Toilets are not free in Indonesia.  This is the facilities after the waterfall tour. I still haven't figured out how not to get my pants all wet!

River trip to waterfalls

A short ride to the waterfalls (rather small).  Unfortunately the water is muddy rather than green due to all the rain.

Bhinneka Tunggal Ika

The national emblem of the Republic of Indonesia, GARUDA PANCASILA, is emblazoned with the words BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA. Translated, they mean 'Unity in Diversity' or, 'We are of many kinds, but we are one'.  Indonesia is home to a diverse group of people (over 300 ethnic groups)  who have contributed to the richness of culture and tradition of the country. These are the Batak in North Sumatra, the Dayak in Kalimantan, the Ambonese in the Moluccas, the Javanese, the Sundanese, the Balinese, the Acehnese, and the Minangkabau, each with a different language. The school celebrated this diversity last Saturday with foods, costumes, performances, games, and music from 14 of the 34 provinces of Indonesia
