Wat Chaiyamangkalaram Temple

This temple is adored with a great number of Buddha statues with the most prominent on being the 108 foot reclining Buddha.  This is supposedly the longest reclining Buddha in the world

I couldn't resist taking a picture of the Buddha's bling.

Dhammikarama Burmese Temple

This is one of the few Burmese Temples outside of  Myanmar. The Burmese Buddhism is different than the Thai Buddhism- although I'm not exactly sure how.

Blue Mansion

The magnificent 38-room, 220-window 'Blue Mansion' was built in the 1880s and rescued from ruin in the 1990s. It blends Eastern and Western designs with louvred windows, art nouveau stained glass and beautiful floor tiles, and is a rare surviving example of the eclectic architectural style preferred by wealthy Straits Chinese. Its distinctive (and once-common in George Town) blue hue is the result of an indigo-based lime wash.

The Blue Mansion

He shipped artisans in from Southern China and imported building materials from as far as Scotland.  The Blue Mansion was more refined than his native home in Tai’pu, and it was said that only one of two such buildings of this size – with 5 courtyards – an eclectic style of architecture that mainly exists outside of China. There are eight pillars in the courtyard- because four is considered death.

Cheong Fatt Tze's mansion- or Blue Mansion

 He consultation with the era’s leading Feng Shui master. While many of his Hakka friends and relatives took interest toward modern Anglo-Indian Houses, Cheong Fatt Tze loved the sophisticated beauty of traditional Chinese houses.
