Tomorrow, Wednesday is a national holiday. All schools and businesses are closed in celebration of the Muslim holiday, Israa Mi'raj:
Israa: Was the Prophet Mohammed’s trip from Mecca to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem
Mi'raj: Was the Prophet's journey to Heaven where Mohammed was given the orders of prayer. Apparently Mohammed was originally told that the people were to pray 50 times a day. That finally was decided to be five times a day.
As far as Muslims are concerned, there is no particular celebration, fast or prayer to commemorate israa and mi’raj. As far as I’m concerned it allows me a day to relax.
Beginning on Thursday we will then have full days. That means I will have students from 7:00 a.m. until 2:05 p.m. Except for Fridays. All schools let out at 11:30 for that is the Muslim holy day.

Hi Carol. I hope you enjoy you Wednesday off. You are probably ready for some much needed relaxation. I can't believe it will be August 1st this coming Sat. Pretty soon the schools over here will be starting back.

Yes Carol, I consider Friday a holy day also, we celebrate Happy Hour around 2 ish. I will do the praying for us. Only kidding, I am wishing for Happy hour. Enjoy your day of relaxation on Wednesday.
Here's hoping you find something more relaxing to do than boil water and wash laundry! Or you could always Tony the Tokek for a walk. Nah . . kick your feet up and relax. I think you've earned it.
Hope you are doing well and enjoying the advenutre,
Melissa
Good Morning Carol. It is 7:46 am here in good ole DE. Happy August 1st. Just sitting here thinking about you. Thought you might like some news from home. Katie has only one more week of camp at Hanby Outdoor Center. Then she goes to Ursuline's camp for 2 weeks and then school starts. Hard to believe she will be in first grade this year. Saturday we are going to go shopping for her school supplies. We just put a new desk in her room this summer. She will be having homework for the first time. It is an exciting time.
I'm doing ok. You know, day to day. Trying to get healthy. I talked to Alex this morning. He was just getting done his run at 5 am. I gave him some of my home grown cucumbers. My garden is very abuntant this year.
Yesterday was one of those no good, very bad days. I had a meeting at school and of course, no one shows up on time, the parents are snobs, the dad is overwhelming and intimidating, their child run's the show. The outside psychologist the parents had test their child in addition to my testing (that is another story) was at the meeting. She was adamant about retaining this kn kid. Well, I felt the exact opposite. I thought this kid should go to first grade. Well, I am sure you experienced plenty of these situations.
I hope this didn't bore you to much. Just thought I'd chat a little. Take care. Can't wait to hear from you soon.
Peace and Love
Michele T.
